Make Money for Newbies: Session 3: Analyzing Keyword Website Competition

Welcome to Make Money for Newbies once again. In this session we will go over how to scan the websites we will be competing against with our keywords of choice. This will allow you to see if the keyword you are targeting is a good enough keyword to compete with and if you can handle the competition or not. This process will involve you downloading a few things but everything you download is free. Again it is always best to start off free when beginning to make money for newbies to the Internet world. So pay attention to the step by step outline to this process and follow it carefully as this is a critical part of making money online with Google.


Step 1: Tools to have for analyzing your competition

First off, what we are trying to achieve when examining your competition for your keyword is looking at the sites that are at the top of the rankings when you type in your keyword. So go to Google search engine. The keyword we are going to use so you guys can follow my step by step process easily is "cooking class". In the last session we found this to be a profitable and suitable keyword for newbies to make money online. So type "cooking class" in the search engine and press search. What we want to focus on are the first five websites that are listed. Do not include any site that has a "sponsored link" label to the right of it and is highlighted in pink. For example the sight that I show(which may not be the site you see if this post is old at the time your reading it) "NYC Cooking Classes". Do not count this as one of the sites to consider. It is irrelevant to you in your attempts to make money for newbies with Google. The site at the number one spot that we should focus on is titled "Cooking Class". Now in order to examine it the best way we need to download some tools. These are the tools you need to have to make money online with Google:


Tools to Make Money for Newbies:

1. Mozilla FireFox Browser - You cannot do this effectively with Internet explorer or anything else. Download Mozilla if you do not have. It it is free. Just go to google and type in "Mozilla FireFox browser". This is a great browser to use to make money online especially when your just starting out.


2. SEO for FireFox- SEO(Search Engine Optimization) for FireFox will allow you to examine the stats of the websites your competing with such as their Page Rank(i will explain this later). This is a critical tool to use to make money for newbies with Google. Search for SEO for FireFox on Google and Download all of its add ons and what not. There should be three tools to down load in total on the page. Make sure you download all three or four I forget. Just download everything related to SEO on the page. Once you have downloaded this install it into your tool bar. When you have done this process you should see an SEO label on the bottom right corner of your Mozilla Website. If it is colored that means its on, if it isn't it is not on.


Alright!, Now that we have everything set up we can now begin analyzing the sites we are going to compete with. So now we go to Google and search for the keyword "Cooking Class". Now we are at the results page. Make sure your SEO logo at the bottom right corner is on. You can turn it on by simply clicking on it once. Make sure it is colored. Now press refresh to refresh the search engine results page for the keyword "Cooking Class". After pressing refresh, if you have done everything correctly you should now see statistics underneath each website. The first site should be ranked "#1" and next to that should be a statistic that should say PR=?. That PR stands for Page Rank. This is a key stat to examine when trying to make money for newbies with Google AdSense. The Page Rank number tells you what Google thinks of the sites power of authority for the topic which in this case would be "cooking class". PR is ranked from 1-10, 10 being the highest.

Now in order to see if we should go forward with our keyword choice to make money for newbies online we have to look at the PR of the top five sites of the search results of our keyword. Of these five we will see if we can compete with them. The key to make money online is knowing your competition. When you are new to this Google AdSense program you want to make sure that the five sites you are analyzing do have a PR of no higher then 5. If anyone of them has a PR of 6 or greater even if it is just 1 of the 5 sites, it is best to choose an easier keyword. When you build your site you will build your PR. However remember this: PR is just what Google thinks of you as an authority. People who are searching do not care about PR they care about who is at the top of the search engine results as they enter sites on the top page. So your position on the SERPS is more important than your PR. But we are getting to ahead of ourselves.

What we need to do from here is list the way a site should be set up for best SEO. You want your site to be optimized for search engine. Basically make your site as search engine friendly as possible so Google will put you at the top of the search engine results and you will get the most traffic coming to your site. the more traffic the more clicks the more you make money online. The way to get ranked high for a keyword is to put your keywords in the right spots in your website which will be the spots Google looks at when they examine your site and making sure you use your keyword at least 20% of the time in the articles in your site and at most 30% of the time. Now these are the list of the ways to set up your optimally set up your site for SEO to make money for newbies online(Next Session I will go over how to set each one up and explain its purpose so do not worry if you do not understand everything. I will walk you through setting up your free website). Here is the list:

1. Try best to Put your keyword in your URL which is your web address in order to make money online. Example: www.cookingclass.com
2. Try Put Keyword in the title of your site
3. Use Keyword in a header if you can
4.Use Keyword in first and last sentence of your article in your website
5.Use Keyword 20% of the time in article maximum 30%
6. Bold, Italicize or Underline Your Keyword at least once.
7. Create a lot of content(meaning write articles and post them on your site) 5 posts minimum but you should always keep posting to make money for newbies with Google AdSense.
8. Each Post should be at minimum 400 words. The more the better. Google loves beacoup content! beacoup means "a lot of" in french by the way......

OK, digest all this information analyze your all of your keywords in the process discussed above and in the next session we will go over how to analyze if the website your competing with has good SEO and how to set up a free blog(website) account.
